Following their success in the Canadian construction industry health and safety sector this year, Vital ID, the specialist leisure and industrial ID company, is launching its newly designed Hard Hat Safety ID product in to the UK construction industry this month.
The Hard Hat Safety ID product contains vital personal and medical information which can be easily accessed by first line attendees or medics in the event of an accident or sickness at the work site. The information provided helps deliver rapid and appropriate medical assistance, as well as confirming the identification of the individual concerned and their family contact details.
The personal information in the Hard Hat Safety ID can be provided at the discretion of the individual and is protected by a tamper resistant feature. The information can be amended.
The Hard Hat Safety ID tag adheres to the hard hat and is highly visible even in low light conditions. The protective sleeve is made of highly reflective 3M ScotchLite material. Vital ID are targeting the product at Health and Safety professionals who take a proactive approach to augment existing procedures at construction sites and other similar work environments.
The product is already part of the Health and Safety regime in the Canadian construction industry in three states - British Columbia, Manitoba and Nova Scotia. Since adopting the product in April this year Cathy Lange, Executive Director Construction Safety Association British Columbia, has stated that "The great thing about these is that it provides medical personnel with immediate access to health issues and emergency contact information if a worker is involved in a serious accident or has a health crisis while on the job". She concluded that, "This could potentially save a life under certain conditions".
The Hard Hat Safety ID product launched in the UK this month contains a number of enhancements and refinements based on collaboration with the Health and Safety team at Costain. As Paul Cunningham, Project SHE explained, "We see the Hard Hat Safety ID product as a valuable low cost way of improving health and safety at the work site. We have been successfully trialling it on site for some months, providing feedback to Vital ID, which they have taken on board." Paul explained further, "We also like the fact that the Hard Hat Safety ID also involves the sites workers in the health and safety process. In fact, we introduce the product and its work site benefits during the induction of new staff. We're making it part of our health and safety culture."
The Hard Hat Safety ID product is currently available via Bunzl Greenham Safety and Workplace Supplies.
